The ideal candidate for the Urban Scholars program will be one who:

  • Demonstrates academic promise with a strong GPA and motivation to succeed in school.

  • Shows resilience and adaptability, overcoming personal or academic challenges with determination.

  • Is self-motivated and eager to learn, taking initiative and seeking out opportunities for growth.

  • Displays good listening skills, openness to mentorship, and the ability to apply constructive feedback.

  • Exhibits leadership potential and a willingness to take initiative in both school and community settings.

  • Commits to personal growth and skill development, especially in areas such as financial literacy, career readiness, and personal development.

  • Engages in service to the community or demonstrates a strong desire to give back and make a positive impact.

  • Has clear goals and aspirations to continue their education and graduate from college.

  • Actively participates in enrichment opportunities, including college tours, workshops, and peer collaboration.

  • Contributes positively to the Urban Scholars community, supporting fellow scholars and embodying the program’s values.
